The Café at the Fridericianum offers high-quality food and beverages for events and can support you in choosing external partners according to individual needs.
Built in the classicist style, the Fridericianum was founded in 1779 as one of the world’s very first public museums. Since 1988, it has been one of the most important contemporary art exhibition galleries world-wide. Every five years, it is in addition the center of the documenta exhibition, which has been held since 1955. The auditorium and the creative studio – the so-called Studiowerkstatt – are available for events.

Opened in 2019, the Café at the Fridericianum is located in the classicist lobby of the Fridericianum and consists of the ground-floor rotunda, an outdoor area beneath the stylish porticus, and in the summer months, the extended outdoor café terrace on Friedrichsplatz. It serves a regional assortment of drinks and primarily hearty vegan meals as well as cakes and pastries.
Steeped in history, the rotunda was redesigned in 2023 by artist Kerstin Brätsch and filled with her site-specific MIMIKRY intervention. This expansive installation is both artwork and venue at once, forming an extraordinary setting for special events.
With its six columns, the porticus and the café terrace on Kassel’s central Friedrichsplatz offer the opportunity to arrange outdoor receptions and events.
As your culinary partner, the Café at the Fridericianum supports you in compiling your individual menu of dishes and drinks for your particular event.
