Head of Sponsoring, Fundraising and International Friends of documenta (m/f/d)
documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is a non-profit organization supported and funded by the City of Kassel and the State of Hesse. It is responsible for the documenta exhibition, which takes place every five years, for Fridericianum, documenta archiv, documenta Institut and documenta Halle.
documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is looking for a person with experience in attracting international sponsors, patrons and partners for documenta 16.
Your activities will include:
- Acquisition of an international circle of sponsors, in close coordination with the management
- Creation of a sponsoring concept
- Support of sponsoring partners for documenta 16
- Development/expansion and support of the International Friends of documenta circle of friends
- Development and management of strong relationships with important institutional and private sponsors and funding partners
- Monitoring of the relevant processes and deadlines in the run-up to the application, contract negotiations and their execution
- Drafting contracts and monitoring compliance with agreed services, in coordination with the management, legal and communications departments
- General control of all settlements
Your profile:
- Completed university degree or completed training in a relevant field and professional experience (at least three years), ideally in arts/cultural organizations, including team leadership
- Experience in working with institutional donors, understanding of their funding processes and compliance requirements
- You are internationally networked and have a strong track record in acquisition
- Very good communication skills, a confident and articulate manner and sensitivity in dealing with the specifics of the international arts and culture scene and selected stakeholders
- Strategic thinking to align the sponsorship concept with the long-term strategy and priorities of documenta gGmbH
- Very good written and spoken English skills

documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is seeking a reliable and responsible individual to support the head of Mediation, Interpretation and Programming department for documenta 16. The department is committed to mediate the strategic goals of documenta engaging with a broad audience by means of public programmes.
Your activities will include:
The assistant works closely with the head of the Mediation, Interpretation and Programming department, by giving support to develop and implement programmes in the field of mediation and public programs with the artistic team and the Artistic Direction of documenta 16.
- Support in planning and developing a diverse mediation program for public events that promotes the values of documenta 16 and makes them accessible to a broad audience
- Helping to establish structures for public events through creative programming – including lectures, workshops, artist talks, digital and live performances
- Supporting the head of department in maintaining existing collaborations and developing new programmatic and educational partnerships
- Helping to identify emerging issues in contemporary art and culture to create dynamic forums for communicating these developments to the public
- Creating program lists and schedules
- Communicating with invited guests and artists to coordinate the logistics for public education programs, including support with contracts, travel, accommodation and budgeting
- Support with writing texts, in coordination with the communications team, to prepare and publicise the public programs
- Close coordination and collaboration with colleagues from the various departments to coordinate the event programme and educational formats
- Responding to enquiries, as well as general correspondence and office work
- Scheduling appointments and meetings
Your profile:
- Experience in implementing public programs and events, preferably within a cultural organisation
- High level of motivation and enthusiasm for working with diverse communities and audiences for educational programming
- Experience in planning special events, project management, and implementing digital event formats
- An interest in contemporary art and diverse educational formats
- Good communication skills, strong organisational and attention to detail skills, and the ability to solve problems under pressure
- A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Very good written and spoken German and English skills
