Liliana Gómez, Professor of Art and Society at the University of Kassel with secondary membership at the Kassel Art Academy and the documenta Institute 

This Symposium is dedicated to the voids, omissions, and repressed histories in the narratives surrounding documenta, viewing these gaps as a productive starting point for new perspectives. Instead of searching for a complete history, the goal is to treat the fragmentary, speculative, and unverifiable as a form of knowledge. The Symposium uses storytelling as a method to explore and reveal alternative narratives. In this way, it shows what was, but also what could have been.
