To mark the 100th birthday of Hans Hillmann (1925–2014), the documenta archive in Kassel is hosting a studio exhibition that pays tribute to the multifaceted work of this internationally renowned graphic designer, illustrator, and university lecturer. For decades, Hillmann shaped the visual culture of the Federal Republic of Germany with his significant film posters, innovative book illustrations, and groundbreaking graphic novel Fliegenpapier (Flypaper).

The exhibition at the documenta archiv brings together film posters, sketches, book illustrations, and unpublished material from the estate. It invites visitors to discover an artist whose visual thinking continues to inspire today—between image and text, film and graphics, narrative and abstraction.
