Family day: What a sight you are!

  • Fridericianum

Friedrichsplatz 18, 34117 Kassel

Clothes make the person… right? For family day, the Fridericianum art education team invites you to explore the meaning of clothing—as well as of nudity—through an examination of three special works by the US-American artist Charles Ray.

The group explores the question of when certain types of clothing are typically worn and discusses different influencing factors, such as specific occasions and activities—including celebrations, school classes, or sports—as well as social norms that can raise expectations regarding “appropriate” attire. The function and impact of clothing are also examined closely, e. g., its role in expressing group identity or one’s own personality.

Afterward, the participants design their own T-shirts, for example, to express their own personality or to step into a different role.

For: Families, children aged 5 and up accompanied by an adult
Workshop fee: 10 Euro per person
