On May 20, as part of the event series "documenta lessons. Learning from, with and without art", there will be a discussion with Marie Rosenkranz and Andreas Niegl.

In this conversation, Marie Rosenkranz and Andreas Niegl will discuss art projects and exhibitions that are conceived and staged by artists and curators as alternative spaces of education. Whether Joseph Beuys' "Free International University", Tania Bruguera's "Escuela de Arte Útil" or, most recently, ruangrupa's "Gudskul": in the history of documenta, concepts of a "new school" of art have been presented time and again. This often happens in explicit differentiation from (and with implicit criticism of) existing educational systems within and outside the art world. How can these works be placed in a broader discussion about knowledge, learning, political participation and collectivity?
