Mombachstraße 10-12, 34127 KasselOn July 1, as part of the event series “documenta lessons. Learning from, with and without art”, there will be a discussion with Magdalena Nieslony and Claire Zimmermann.
Visitors to a documenta are often confronted with works of art that claim social relevance in the broadest sense and seek to take responsibility for solving social problems. In view of these ambitions, it is not surprising that moral criteria play an increasingly important role in the evaluation of art. But what is the relationship between such responsibility and the aesthetic and discursive moments of a work of art? Magdalena Nieslony and Claire Zimmermann seek to discuss the various forms of artistic and art-critical approaches to questions of morality.
