Special Tour: documenta archiv Meets Fridericianum

The documenta archiv and the Fridericianum invite you to a reunion: After more than three decades, Charles Ray returns with his work to the Fridericianum. His sculpture Oh! Charley, Charley, Charley… was created in 1992 for documenta 9 and can now be seen once again at the Fridericianum—in nearly the same spot—on the occasion of the artist’s exhibition in Kassel.

During a brief tour of the current exhibition, participants will explore questions of artistic, social, and personal temporality and change—specifically, how the artist’s work has evolved since then and what impact the time between the two exhibitions has had on the reception of the work. In the second part of the event, the group will head to the documenta archiv to explore the documenta artist’s past.
