Marketing Coordinator (m/f/d)

documenta and Museum Fridericianum gGmbH are seeking a Marketing Coordinator (m/f/d) for the Communications and Marketing Department for documenta 16, to start as soon as possible.

This full-time position is a fixed-term contract ending on October 31, 2027.

documenta and Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is a nonprofit organization supported by the City of Kassel and the State of Hesse as shareholders. Its responsibilities include the documenta exhibition, which takes place every five years, the Fridericianum, the documenta archive, and the documenta Halle.

As an internationally renowned exhibition of contemporary art, documenta stands for discourse, diversity, and social relevance. We are looking for a dedicated individual who will develop digital communication concepts and formats and raise the profile of documenta 16 in the digital space.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Further developing the marketing strategy for documenta 16 in close coordination with the Head of Communications and the Head of Marketing
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of the comprehensive marketing strategy for documenta 16 in close coordination with the Head of Communications, the Head of Marketing, the Head of Digital, the Artistic Team, and the Executive Board
  • Shared responsibility for the conceptual planning, management, and operational implementation of documenta 16’s marketing and campaign activities, as well as their evaluation
  • Budget preparation and monitoring in close coordination with the heads of marketing and communications
  • Coordination of marketing measures with service providers and partners to be commissioned, as well as all relevant departments within the gGmbH
  • Project management of all marketing materials (print/online) and their distribution to relevant target groups, including, among others, newsletters, advertisements, brochures, flyers, and posters
  • Managing marketing and media partnerships, as well as ticket sales and distribution companies
  • Overseeing and analyzing market research to evaluate the success of documenta 16
  • Ensuring compliance with the documenta 16 corporate design

Your Profile:

  • Degree in marketing or communication studies, economics, cultural management, or comparable qualifications
  • Several years of professional experience in marketing and communications, ideally in the arts or culture sector
  • Experience in budget management and project management
  • Expertise with analytics and reporting tools
  • A structured and independent work style
  • Creativity and a sense of responsibility, as well as strong communication and intercultural skills
  • Enjoyment of conceptual work and collaborative, process-oriented work as part of a large, international team
  • Interest in art and cultural discourse as well as social debates
  • Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications and digital communication channels
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills
