- Fridericianum
At the core of Nina Könnemann’s artistic practice are observations of public space, everyday behaviors, and subcultural dynamics. Her often documentary video works focus on marginal spaces and transitional zones of social events, examining unspoken rules and broader social mechanisms. In her most recent body of work, BLOCKEN (2023–), Könnemann extends her engagement with public space into live video performances, in which several filmmakers collaboratively develop a documentary narrative from different locations in real time.
The event with Könnemann includes a screening of excerpts from BLOCKEN, alongside a selection of other film works, followed by a conversation with the artist about her live video performances and the media structures and attention economies addressed in them.
Könnemann lives and works in Berlin. Her work has most recently been presented in solo exhibitions at Emmelines, New York (2026), Haus am Waldsee, Berlin (2025), and Gandt, New York (2023), among others.
