Curatorial Assistant (m/f/d)
documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is a non-profit organization supported and funded by the City of Kassel and the State of Hesse. It is responsible for the documenta exhibition, which takes place every five years, for Fridericianum, documenta archiv and documenta Halle.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting and supporting the curatorial team of documenta 16
Communicating with the artists participating in documenta 16 and other participants, as well as realizing the artistic works
Supporting the development of artistic projects, including those not specifically associated with individual artists
Accompanying and hosting artists and other participants in documenta 16
Collaborating with other departments at documenta 16, especially production, communications, and international fundraising
Negotiating and collaborating with relevant institutions and cooperation partners
Writing reports for the settlement of project-related funding
Documentation of artistic projects (for documenta archiv)
Your profile:
A university degree (diploma/master's) in one of the following fields: art history, cultural studies, curatorial studies, visual culture studies, or visual communication
Professional experience in art or cultural institutions, preferably in work teams and artistic project work
Ability to conceptualize, create, and implement projects
Ability to work independently, take initiative, organize, work in a team, cooperate, and be flexible
Very good written and spoken German and English; other languages are welcome
Class B driver's license
We offer you an interesting and responsible position in an internationally operating team within the arts and cultural sector. You will receive a salary commensurate with your qualifications. Your weekly working hours are 40 hours. The place of work is Kassel, and on-site presence is required. This is a temporary position until October 31, 2027.
