Call for book donations for the first artwork of documenta 14

Marta Minujín, documenta 14, and Frankfurter Buchmesse cordially invite the public, publishers, and authors to donate books for the artwork The Parthenon of Books and thus become part of the work. Up to 100,000 formerly or currently banned books from all over the world are needed to erect the work on Friedrichsplatz in Kassel, the same place where, in 1933, numerous books were burned by the Nazis. In Kassel in June 2017 The Parthenon of Books will be constructed using the collected books as a true-to-scale replica of the temple on the Acropolis in Athens, symbolizing the aesthetic and political ideals of the first democracy. The monument will become a decisive symbol of resistance to any banning of writings and the persecution of their authors. To find more information about the project and learn how to donate a book, please visit the website of documenta 14.
