Birgit Jooss introduced as new Director of the documenta archiv

Birgit Jooss is the new director of the documenta archiv of the Art of the 20th and 21st Centuries in Kassel. In addition to developing the collection profile, the duties of the archive director include integrating the archive in national and international networks, the scope of unrestricted accessibility, and developing a strategy for digitizing archive materials as well as pursuing further expansion of the archive and the library, procuring funding, and overseeing the planned remodeling/new building project for the documenta Archiv/Institut. “In Birgit Jooss we have succeeded in recruiting a well-connected, internationally recognized expert who will be able to move the archive ahead at the regional, national, and international levels. That is an important step for the archive as the basis for the planned documenta Institut and its essential significance for the cultural legacy of the documenta and its history,” explained Annette Kulenkampff, CEO of documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH.
