exergue - on documenta 14 41st Kassel Dokfest

Dimitris Athiridis accompanied Artistic Director Adam Szymczyk, his team and the artists over a period of three years during the creation of the 14th edition of documenta, which was held in Athens, Greece, as well as Kassel, under the title Learning from Athens.

The film explores how the preparation and realization of documenta 14 unintentionally signalled important political, financial and cultural policy changes in Europe and addresses ethical and material complexities associated with the conception of a major international art exhibition.

The 14-hour film will be shown in seven screening blocks from November 14 - 16, 2024 in the small BALi cinema. The last screening on Saturday, November 16, 2024 will be followed by a panel discussion.
