The lumbung Press was a project by the lumbung members, lumbung artists, and the Artistic Team of documenta fifteen. It now has a new home in Barcelona.
The idea was to create a direct flow of information through the unfiltered sharing of images and narratives. At its core, the project consisted of a collectively run offset print section at documenta Halle, its printed products, and the accompanying events. Print engineers instructed lumbung artists, lumbung members, members of the Artistic Direction and other participants on how to operate the machines independently. The ensuing publications were then made available through lumbung kios, in bookstores, and in the artists’ own ekosistems. Following on from this principle, the lumbung Press has now found a new home in Barcelona. The opening at the Hangar in Barcelona will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 12 noon. Posters by Tim Rudolph, Fred Hansen, and Erick Beltrán will be printed live on site. The opening program will also feature talks with ruangrupa and Madeyoulook, as well as projections by Subversive Film and Sebastián Díaz Morales. The lumbung Press is planned to remain accessible at the Hangar for one year.
