On Saturday, May 4, 2024, the “Platz nehmen für Demokratie” campaign for the European elections will kick off with a launch event on Friedrichsplatz. The initiative, consisting of over 50 institutions and organizations from the city and district of Kassel, invites people to engage in conversation and strengthen the culture of democratic debate. Chairs will be set up in pairs or groups on Friedrichsplatz for people to engage in controversial discussions: the motto is to be patient, take each other seriously, and respond to one another. A pair of chairs will also be placed in the foyer of the Fridericianum, inviting people to engage in dialogue and exchange opinions.
Kick-off event with a welcome by the initiators and the mayor of Kassel, Sven Schoeller, followed by sitting down together for democracy
